The Thonet 209 bentwood chair is a timeless design classic and a true masterpiece by the Thonet brothers. Developed as early as around 1900, this iconic bentwood chair impresses with its unique construction and high-quality craftsmanship. The striking, sweeping frame, which serves as both backrest and armrest, is bent from a single piece of solid beech wood – a feat of craftsmanship that remains impressive to this day.

Like the famous original model, the Thonet 214 bentwood chair (No. 14), the Thonet 209 also consists of just six parts. This reduced construction gives the chair its characteristic lightness and elegance. Its organic shape makes it a stylish eye-catcher – almost like a sculpture, without visually overwhelming the space.

The seat made of high-quality cane weave ensures comfortable seating and emphasizes the classic character of this design piece. The renowned architect Le Corbusier also appreciated the Thonet 209 and used it, among other places, in 1927 at the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart.

A special variant is the Thonet 210R: with its enlarged backrest, this model offers additional comfort and an even more striking silhouette, while remaining true to the characteristic design language of classic bentwood furniture.

Today, the Thonet 209 chair is a versatile classic suitable for both residential and commercial spaces. Whether in the dining room, office, or café – this bentwood design chair combines traditional craftsmanship with modern style.
