JIL SANDER INTERPRETES THONET

Hardly any other German designer has had such a lasting impact on the world of fashion as Jil Sander. Since her debut in 1968, her name has been synonymous with confident elegance and a clear approach to materials. Her designs challenge conventions and continually open up new perspectives on timeless design.

Now, for the first time, she is turning her attention to interior design. Together with Thonet, she has created extraordinary reinterpretations of two icons of the 1920s: the S 64 cantilever chair and the B 97 table set.

Two independent lines have been created as part of the JS . THONET signature collection: SERIOUS and NORDIC. Both show how Jil Sander, with her keen eye for form and material, lends the classics a new sensibility, her signature style evident in every piece. Each design was developed in close collaboration with the Thonet design team and refined down to the last detail.

All variants of the Serious and Nordic collections are now available in our showroom at Klosterstern. We look forward to showing you this special reinterpretation of Thonet's classics.

Back to stories

NORDIC brings lightness and clarity to designs. A frame in a matte nickel look, light woods, and subtle finishes create a calm, warm impression. The cantilever chair features Viennese cane or leather upholstery in soft tones.

SERIOUS emphasizes a luxurious presence. Frames in a shiny titanium look, leather upholstery in four colors or dark-colored Dark Melange cane, as well as high-gloss lacquered wood frames and armrests.
