USM x Armando Cabral

Designer Armando Cabral brings fresh inspiration to the world of USM. The company invited him to reinterpret the brand’s iconic systems from his own perspective. Cabral, who was born in Guinea-Bissau and raised in Portugal, initially started his career as a model before founding his own brand, known for high-quality shoes, clothing, and home accessories.

His design approach is deeply influenced by his cultural roots, which is also reflected in this special collaboration. The name of the collection, "NKYINKYIM," is inspired by the Adinkra symbols of the Akan people from Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. Armando Cabral aims to seamlessly combine progress, challenge, tradition, and functionality.

The "NKYINKYIM" collection goes far beyond traditional shelving systems. In addition to a strikingly shaped bookshelf, it also includes an elegant lounge chair that balances comfort and style, as well as an asymmetrical platform bed that not only stands out for its unique design but also offers ample storage space. The collection is further complemented by a geometrically designed side table and a modern coat stand, both of which impress with their clean, structured aesthetics.
