NICO SAWATZKI | Vernissage

In his paintings, Nico Sawatzki creates abstract pictorial spaces that generate a special depth effect through high-contrast lighting moods. His paintings suggest natural landscapes, which are reduced to their essentials by superimposing a multitude of layers of spray paint and acrylic glazes - and oscillate between condensation and dissolution.

Sawatzki describes his paintings as surfaces of his own memories. He understands the painting process as a kind of negotiation with mental pictorial spaces that can concentrate and evaporate, but never stand still.

Nico Sawatzki lives and works in Regensburg. His works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions as well as in private collections in Germany, Luxembourg, the USA, South Korea and Canada. They have been awarded the Cultural Promotion Prize of the City of Regensburg.

We are delighted to present the works of Nico Sawatzki. His works, initially calm but then characterized by complex craftsmanship and fine intellect, complement our interior, creating an interplay full of lightness and depth at the same time.
